NEWSToronto City Council to consider 2011 Budget starting on February 23, 2011![]() There will be a Special Meeting of Toronto City Council starting on February 23, 2011 to consider the 2011 Budget. Mayor Ford officially launched the 2011 Budget process on January 10, 2011. Over the past six weeks there have been nine Budget Committee meetings. In addition to these meetings, four public consultation sessions on the 2011 Budget were held on January 19 and 20, 2011 at various civic centres in Toronto. The Budget Committee's mandate includes co-ordinating the preparation of the capital and operating budget estimates while the annual capital and operating budgets are being developed, making recommendations on the capital and operating budgets, and reviewing other matters that may have a significant impact on a future budget, upon request from the Executive Committee. The Budget Committee will continue to meet throughout the year, but had its last 2011 Budget meeting on Friday, February 10 where members of the committee made their final comments, amendments and recommendations to the Executive Committee. Before the 2011 Budget is forwarded to a special meeting of Toronto City Council on February 23, 24, 25 and 28 - the Executive Committee will meet to consider the Budget Committee Recommendations on Thursday, February 17, 2011, where members of the Executive Committee may make further amendments to the final recommendations.
