Today, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Lily Cheng (Willowdale) welcomed the onsite delivery and craning of the modular units for a new supportive housing project at 185 Cummer Ave.

Set for completion by early 2026, the new three-storey modular development will provide rent-geared-to-income homes with supports for seniors and older adults exiting homelessness.

These homes will be private studio apartments, each with a kitchen and bathroom. The building will also include amenity space for tenants such as a shared laundry facility, lounge and dining room, and programming space.

WoodGreen to operate new homes

The City has selected WoodGreen Community Services to manage the new building and provide supports to future tenants at 185 Cummer Ave.

A leading social services agency, WoodGreen has more than 85 years of experience in providing integrated programs such as physical and mental health services, affordable housing, employment support, financial counselling, child care, seniors and youth programs and more.

WoodGreen will provide a range of services that best support tenants’ care needs, including access to a range of wraparound support services to help residents maintain their housing and improve their health and well-being. WoodGreen will work with the Toronto Seniors Housing Corporation and residents of Willowdale Manor at 175 Cummer Ave., as well as with the neighbouring City-run long-term care home, Cummer Lodge, to promote a healthy and inclusive community for current and future residents.
