Tomorrow, Mayor Olivia Chow and members of Toronto City Council will commemorate National Day Against Gun Violence. Mayor Chow will be joined by music and spoken word performers, as well as family members affected by gun violence, along with other honoured guests.

In June 2023, the Government of Canada proclaimed the first Friday of June as the National Day Against Gun Violence in Canada. This day brings awareness to the causes and effects of gun violence, and the need for prevention, healing and creating a path towards peace. 

The Toronto Sign at Nathan Phillips Square will be dimmed Friday evening in honour of all victims of gun violence.
