News Release
November 22, 2025

Earlier today, Mayor Olivia Chow and Councillor Chris Moise (Toronto Centre) kicked off the return of the Winter Market at St. Lawrence Market, celebrating the start of the city’s festive holiday season. Thanks to overwhelming support last year, the Winter Market is back, bigger and better than ever, running Thursdays through Sundays, with an extra Monday added for the final day, Monday, December 22.

This free, outdoor Winter Market offers a festive shopping experience with local vendors, seasonal treats, unique gifts, live entertainment and family-friendly activities. Visitors can explore a vibrant mix of artisanal goods, specialty foods and holiday cheer while enjoying a festive atmosphere along Market Street, transformed into a lively public space and community hub.

This year’s highlights include:

  • Santa Claus and free photos: Capture the magic of the season with free photos with Santa Claus.
  • Unique local vendors: In addition to vendors along Market Street, visitors can shop from more than 75 makers and vintage sellers every Saturday and Sunday at the Weekend Holiday Vendor Market, presented by the Sunday Variety Market, located in the Temporary Tent at 125 The Esplanade. Discover one-of-a-kind gifts, handmade crafts and seasonal treats.
  • Live performances and entertainment: The Winter Market will feature free performances to get visitors into the holiday spirit including live music, festive carolers and the return of the viral singing sheep. During opening weekend, the market coincides with the Santa Claus Parade, as the St. Lawrence Market serves as the final stop on the parade route. On most Fridays, visitors can also enjoy Friday Night Jazz with JazzInToronto.

Exciting new attractions
Every Friday through Sunday, visitors can enjoy a rotating lineup of attractions, starting with a carousel on opening weekend, followed by a synthetic ice rink on the second weekend. The third weekend will feature the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show’s first-ever winter programming in partnership with St. Lawrence Market and the skating rink will return for the final two weekends.

A festive destination
More than a shopping destination, St. Lawrence Market becomes a holiday experience, with seasonal aromas, festive decor and a strong sense of community. The Winter Market invites Torontonians and visitors alike to celebrate the season, connect with local vendors and enjoy a joyful, immersive holiday atmosphere.

St. Lawrence Market is a renowned international food market featuring 120 merchants, vendors and farmers offering fresh produce, meats and specialty items. Serving Toronto residents and visitors since 1803, the Market is consistently recognized as one of the city’s most beloved destinations and one of the world’s top food markets.

This event is presented in partnership with the Toronto Star. More information including event highlights is available on the St. Lawrence Market website.
