Toronto City Councillor Shelley Carroll (Don Valley North), Chair of the Economic and Community Development Committee, and Gord Tanner, General Manager, Shelter, Support and Housing Administration, will discuss the City of Toronto staff report “Review of policies and procedures related to Warming Centres,” which will be considered at the next Economic and Community Development Committee meeting on Tuesday, April 25.

Date: Tuesday, April 18

Time: 9 to 9:30 a.m.

The staff report responds to direction given by the Economic and Community Development Committee to the General Manager, Shelter, Support and Housing Administration on January 11 to review policies and procedures related to the opening and operations of Warming Centres. Warming Centres are one component of the City’s annual Winter Services Plan and give those who are vulnerable and may be experiencing homelessness a safe indoor and warm place to rest and access snacks, washroom facilities and referrals to emergency shelter.
