Toronto Animal Services is seeking donations of cat and dog food to help feed some deserving pets this holiday season.
Donations of unopened bagged/dry or canned/wet dog and cat food can be dropped off at Toronto City Hall and any of the three Toronto Animal Services shelters across the city.
Pet food donations will benefit patrons of the Fred Victor Centre, LAMP Community Health Centre, as well as visitors to the Toronto Animal Services’ Spay and Neuter Your Pet (SNYP) Truck. The SNYP Truck provides spay and neuter services for dog and cat owners in low income households, who may not be able to afford traditional veterinarians. The donated pet food will help those pet owners feed their pets in the new year.
“One of the most common requests made by low income pet owners is for food for their pet family members,” said Mayor John Tory. “A donation of pet food can make a big difference to a person or family in need.”
Pet food for all ages of cats and dogs, from puppies and kittens to senior dogs and cats are welcome. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
• Toronto City Hall, Rotunda, 100 Queen St. W.
• North Toronto Animal Services Shelter, 1300 Sheppard Ave. W. (Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West)
• East Toronto Animal Services Shelter, 821 Progress Ave. (Hwy 401 and Markham Road)
• West Toronto Animal Services Shelter, 146 The East Mall (Hwy 427 and Dundas Street West)
Donations will be accepted at City Hall until December 23. Donations can also be dropped off at Toronto Animal Services Shelters daily, year round from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
