The 2026 municipal election will be held on Monday, October 26 and to help prospective candidates prepare, Toronto Elections will host two information sessions.

Topics covered in these identical sessions will include:

  • Candidate eligibility requirements
  • How, when and where to file nomination papers
  • Campaign financing requirements.

Both information sessions will be held at Toronto City Hall, Council Chamber, 100 Queen St. W. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Thursday, April 16
  • Monday, May 11

Participants can also join online or access a recording of the sessions at www.toronto.ca/candidates.

Advance registration is not required and there is no cost to attend.

Accommodation requests can be made up to 72 hours in advance of each session by emailing Toronto Elections at candidateinfo@toronto.ca.

The first day to file a nomination to run as a candidate in the 2026 municipal election is Friday, May 1. Nominations close on Friday, August 21 at 2 p.m.
