In partnership with the St. Patrick’s Parade Society, Toronto Public Health (TPH) will host a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Sunday, March 20, along the St. Patrick’s Parade route at Yonge-Dundas Square, to provide vaccination opportunities for attendees and residents. This is part of Team Toronto’s ongoing strategy to bring vaccines to places where people live, work and play, including major events in the city.
This family-friendly vaccination clinic, which will operate on a walk-in basis, will be held at 1 Dundas St. E. from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and provide first, second, third and children’s COVID-19 doses to eligible people age five and up. A health card is not required, and TPH clinical nurses will be available on site to answer any COVID-19 and vaccine-related questions. Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be offered.
Parade attendees can also find pharmacies along the parade route where they can get a COVID-19 vaccine by using the provincial webpage.
The St. Patrick’s Parade pop-up clinic is only one of many vaccination options Team Toronto is offering this Sunday. A full list of clinic locations and hours can be found on the COVID-19: Pop-Up Immunization Clinics webpage. More information about where to get vaccinated across the city including at City-run immunization clinics, primary care offices and over 525 pharmacies is available on the COVID-19: Where to Get Vaccinated webpage.
More information about Team Toronto’s approach to increasing localized vaccination opportunities, outreach and efforts is available on the COVID-19: City Immunization Strategies webpage. A full list of COVID-19 clinic locations and hours can be found on the COVID-19: Pop-Up Immunization Clinics webpage.
TPH continues to urge all residents to get their first, second and third dose, if eligible, and if they haven’t already done so. COVID-19 vaccines have been scientifically proven to lower the risk of illness, hospitalization and death while protecting oneself, loved ones and the community, and residents with three doses had the lowest rates of hospitalization, ICU and death over any other level of vaccination.
Quotes:
“The return of the St. Patrick’s Parade to our city streets is a sign of the progress we have made fighting COVID-19 and helping residents get vaccinated. Thank you to Team Toronto for working together to deliver millions of doses of COVID-19 vaccine and providing this clinic on Sunday to help anyone who still needs it to get their first, second or third dose of COVID-19 vaccine.”
– Mayor John Tory
“As part of our ongoing work to make vaccines accessible by bringing them directly to where people live, work, and play, Team Toronto is hosting a vaccination clinic at this weekend’s St. Patrick’s Parade. With our March Break clinics also continuing across the city this weekend, there are many options for Torontonians to get vaccinated, be protected and help keep our community safe.”
– Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Toronto Board of Health
“We’re seeing progress in our hard work to reduce COVID-19 spread in our city, but this virus hasn’t disappeared entirely. Getting vaccinated with a first, second or third dose will ensure you and your loved ones are protected from serious illness linked to COVID-19. If you haven’t already done so, it’s still very important and it’s not too late.”
– Dr. Eileen de Villa, Medical Officer of Health
“We are proud to partner with Toronto Public Health to offer this special pop-up COVID-19 immunization clinic at this year’s St. Patrick’s Parade. We know that vaccines can keep the people of Toronto safe, and we hope everyone takes this opportunity to get vaccinated. This is an extension of our request that all attendees celebrate safely by following the COVID-19 guidelines outlined by the health authorities including physical distancing, wearing a facemask and maintaining healthy habits. Is fearr an tsláinte ná na táinte.”
– Shaun Ruddy, Chair of the St. Patrick’s Parade Society
