Today, in recognition of International Women’s Day, Toronto Public Health (TPH) in partnership with Toronto Community Housing (TCHC) and the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities is hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at 90 Mornelle Crt. This is part of Team Toronto’s ongoing strategy to bring vaccines to places people live, work and play.
90 Mornelle Crt. is a TCHC building located in Scarborough’s Morningside neighbourhood. Approximately 85 per cent of residents five years old and older within this neighbourhood have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 81 per cent have two doses. All told, 50 per cent of residents 18 years old and older in Morningside have received their third dose.
The vaccination clinic will be held on the ground floor of 90 Mornelle Crt. from 2 to 7 p.m., providing first, second, third and paediatric COVID-19 doses to residents and the surrounding community. No registrations or appointments are required as the clinic will operate on a walk-in basis. A health card is not required, and a team of Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities ambassadors will be available on site to respond to COVID-19 and vaccine-related questions. Community ambassadors have also been promoting the vaccination opportunity and encouraging all residents to get vaccinated.
The International Women’s Day clinic is part of Team Toronto’s ongoing hyper-local, data- and equity-centered efforts to continue to remove barriers to COVID-19 vaccines. More information about Team Toronto’s approach to increasing localized vaccination opportunities, outreach and efforts is available on the City’s COVID-19: City Immunization Strategies webpage.
The clinic is only one of many vaccination options Team Toronto is offering today. A full list of clinic locations and hours can be found on the City’s COVID-19: Pop-Up Immunization Clinics webpage. More information about where to get vaccinated across the city including at City-run immunization clinics, primary care offices and over 525 pharmacies is available on the City’s COVID-19: Where to Get Vaccinated webpage.
TPH continues to urge all residents to get their first, second and third dose, if eligible, and if they have not already done so. COVID-19 vaccines have been scientifically proven to lower the risk of illness, hospitalization and death while protecting oneself, loved ones and the community. Recent data shows that residents with three doses had the lowest rates of hospitalization, ICU and death over any other level of vaccination.
