The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination to run as a candidate for the office of Councillor in Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park is 2 p.m. on Friday, August 15.
To run for the office of Councillor, a person must:
Nominations must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections City Hall office located at 100 Queen St. W., first floor, Permit Alley. The office is open Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays). On Friday, August 15, the last day of the nomination period, the office will accept nominations from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Individuals filing or withdrawing a nomination must bring all completed forms, required documents and identification with them. Both the nomination paper and the endorsements of nomination must be completed on the prescribed forms and have original signatures. These forms, along with additional information, are available on the City’s by-election candidate information webpage.
Until a nomination paper is filed, a person cannot raise or spend any money on their campaign.
Third party advertiser registration
Any person, corporation or trade union intending to spend money to promote, support or oppose a candidate in the Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park by-election must register as a third party advertiser.
A third party advertiser Notice of Registration must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections City Hall office. Registrations can be filed Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays) until Friday, September 26.
