Report a wrong delivery of a bin by submitting a service request to 311.
As of January 1, 2026, the City is no longer responsible for residential recycling collection. To report a wrong delivery of a blue bin (recycling), visit the Circular Materials website or call 1-888-921-2686.

If you have found a City-issued Garbage Bin or Green Bin (organics) that does not belong at your address, check with your neighbours first to see if the bin belongs to them. If not, you can report the bin to 311 for the City to pick up.

Eligibility

  • You are a Toronto resident.
  • You have found a City-issued Garbage Bin or Green Bin on your property that does not belong at your address.

How to Report a Wrong Delivery of a Bin

  1. Make sure you have the following information ready before submitting a service request:
    • Full name
    • Email address
    • Phone number
    • Address (required)
    • Bin serial number (located on the front of the bin). Example format:
      • Garbage Bin: #65G######
      • Green Bin: #26O######
  2. Submit a service request.
  3. Prepare the bin for pickup.
    • Make sure that the bin is empty.
    • Place the bin on your property where it is accessible and visible from the street from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Do not place the bin in your backyard, behind a gated fence, etc.)

What to Expect

  • The bin will be picked within two business days following collection day.
  • Because garbage is collected on alternating weeks, it may take more than one collection cycle for staff to pick up misdelivered Garbage Bins.
Scheduled Collection Day Bin Pickup Days
    Tuesday Wednesday, Thursday
    Wednesday Thursday, Friday
    Thursday Friday, Monday
    Friday Monday, Tuesday
  • There will be two attempts to pick up the bin. If staff cannot locate the bin on the first attempt, they will leave a notice and a second attempt will be made within five business days.
