The City has partnered with Humber College through the college’s Centres of Innovation Network to create updates to TinyTO – a model of downtown Toronto that resides in the lobby of City Hall.

Humber students in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design, User Experience Design and Game Programming, designed and produced the updates to TinyTO which serves as a tool to help city planners, developers and residents envision redevelopment options, consider growth and expansion patterns, and imagine the future.

The multi-disciplinary team of students and faculty members worked closely with the City to design and produce the model using the City’s 3D Massing dataset.

The 3D model will soon use the latest technologies and be a unique real-time, city-wide, interactive multimedia exhibit.

This three-dimensional model of the city core model consists of 12 tiles (4×3 grid) with each tile being 1.2 metres x 1.2 metres with a model scale of 1:1250.

This project is a great example of the City’s collaboration with our higher education institution partners facilitated by the Strategic Partnerships Office and CivicLabTO.
