A licence is required to operate a body shop/car repair facility, car wash, gas station, car dealership or public garage.

Before submitting an application, you must apply for a Zoning Applicable Law Certificate . This is required to confirm compliance with the City's Zoning by-law(s) when applying for a business licence approval.

If a motor vehicle repair shop provides spray painting or body and/or other vehicular repairs which may release air pollutants or if they transport certain types of waste, then they need to also submit an Environmental Certificate of Approval from the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.
