To report litter, loose garbage or human waste on sidewalks or boulevards along arterial (main) streets and public laneways, you can submit a service request online at: https://www.toronto.ca/311/ or call 311.

Waste and litter refer to small, non-containerized items or discarded objects, excluding chewing gum. Examples include:

  • paper, flyers, wrappers
  • cigarette butts
  • broken glass

You can report human waste (blood, urine, vomit, diarrhea, and solid feces) on a City sidewalk, boulevard, or City laneway by submitting a Biohazard Human Waste Removal service request online at: https://www.toronto.ca/311/ or call 311.  Please be as specific as possible with the location/s and quantities to be removed to ensure City staff have the necessary equipment to complete the removal.

Note:

  • Loose litter or garbage on private property, sidewalks, and boulevards, in residential areas, is the responsibility of property owners, (refer to Chapter 743-36)
  • Human waste located on private property is the responsibility of property owners.

Article V of Chapter 743 of the Toronto Municipal Code requires that all property owners in Toronto:

  • Keep the boulevard and sidewalk clear of noxious weeds, litter, rubbish, brush, leaves, lawn and tree trimmings
