Backwater valve

On Sept. 24, 2008, City Council adopted a motion that the whole City of Toronto be declared at risk of basement flooding. In accordance with the Ontario Building Code any applicant of a Plumbing permit related to a sewer drain (where there is a below grade living area) is required to install a backwater valve on their sanitary sewer lateral.
