School groups are invited to join us for 90-minute guided tours of City Hall.
To book and participate in a guided City Hall tour, teachers and tour group leaders must agree to and comply with all the City Hall Tour Requirements set out below.
To maintain a safe environment and create a positive and enjoyable visit for everyone, we ask that participants adhere to City Hall Tour rules and regulations:
The City of Toronto is not responsible for any damaged, lost, stolen, or misplaced items left on the property.
Visitors to Toronto City Hall must go through a visitor screening, including a walk-through metal detector upon entering the building.
To make the screening process go as quickly as possible, follow these tips:
Upon arrival, security staff ask visitors to place items, including cell phones, cameras, keys, and sunglass cases, into the trays provided and pass through the metal detector one person at a time.
If an alarm is triggered, you will be asked to walk through again or screened with a hand-held wand.
Visitors with medical devices or special circumstances, such as visitors with mobility aids, should alert security staff, and other screening methods, such as the hand-held wand, can be used.
Any object that may compromise safety and security is prohibited.
Please review the complete list of prohibited items.
If possible, please refrain from bringing backpacks and other unnecessary items.
Visitors can enter the building from Nathan Phillips Square.
Visitors to Toronto City Hall must go through a visitor screening, including a walk-through metal detector, upon entering the building before being granted access to the rotunda, elevators, Council floors, or the committee rooms. The screening takes place on the first floor once visitors have entered the front doors.
Visitor screening is not required to access a number of City services on the main floor, such as the information desk, library, café and the washrooms.
Participants must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tour.
Late arrivals may result in a shortened tour.
A City staff member guides all tours.
City staff will escort groups to the main entrance at the end of their tour.
In-person City Hall tours can be booked on weekdays between 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Groups may visit on Council meeting and non-Council meeting days. Please check the Council meeting schedule.
