The deadline to claim a rebate for the 2023 Councillor Ward 20, Scarborough Southwest by-election is January 15, 2025.

 

You can now claim your rebate online using the information on the Contribution Rebate Receipt and Application form(s) provided to you by the participating candidate(s) to whom you contributed. If you have not yet received this receipt, contact the candidate directly.

If you have more than one Contribution Rebate Receipt and Application form, you will need to submit a separate online claim for each receipt. The deadline to claim a rebate for the 2023 By-Election: Councillor Ward 20, Scarborough Southwest is 4:30 p.m., January 15, 2025.

Rebate payments will be mailed to contributors in early 2025, except in cases where a compliance audit or court proceeding is in progress against a candidate, or the candidate did not fulfil the requirements of the Municipal Code Section 53-3.

Contributors must claim their own rebates; candidates cannot do so on their behalf.

The information submitted on this form is for the purpose of administering the City of Toronto’s contribution rebate program.

Terms, Conditions & Information for Contributors

  • Municipal campaign contributions are not eligible for federal income tax purposes.
  • Rebates are based on total contributions made to all candidates. The maximum amount is $1,000.
  • Rebates are not paid for contributions of $25 or less, or for donations of goods and services.
  • The maximum contribution to Mayoral candidates is $2,500.
  • A contributor cannot contribute over $5,000 in total to two or more candidates on the same council.
  • Contributor names and addresses are posted on the city’s website for contributions totalling over $100.
  • Rebates are paid to contributors provided that the candidate has filed an audited financial statement and complied with all requirements of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and the contribution rebate by-law (Municipal Code).
  • Rebates cannot be paid until any proceeding(s) in relation to a compliance audit or an over-contribution report is complete.
  • Contributors should contact the candidate(s) to whom they contributed in order to understand their data privacy practices.
