In order to provide equal access of information for the 2022 municipal election, the City has established a protocol for responding to requests for information from candidates and third party advertisers about City services and programs. Questions received and responses given will be provided in writing and posted here without revealing the source of the request. This page will be updated as information becomes available.
Candidates and third party advertisers may submit a request to the City about services and programs by emailing: candidaterequests@toronto.ca
A: No. However, City Council has required that all Members of Council be vaccinated in order to participate in-person in any legislative meetings such as meetings of City Council, committees, or meetings of any City board. For more information, refer to City Council’s decision on this matter.
A: In order to identify their campaign office to visitors or volunteers, candidates are allowed to post one sign in the window or door of their unit prior to September 29. This can also be in the form of one lawn sign.
A: Thank you for reaching out to the Vision Zero team.
For your two requests:
A: The Stanley Greene route was proposed and approved as part of the 2021 Annual Service Plan as a local bus service to connect the growing neighbourhood of Stanley Greene to Line 1 Yonge-University at Wilson Station. A trial service was recommended to operate in the peak periods, on weekdays only, to support commuter travel and add capacity on the Wilson Avenue corridor. This service was initially planned to be implemented in 2021.
When the TTC reached out to the Stanley Greene community to notify them of the route launching in fall 2021, we received comments from community members stating their preference to connect to Downsview Park Station, as there is currently a private shuttle operating between the neighbourhood and Downsview Park Station. We were then informed that we need permission from Canada Lands Company (CLC) to operate a bus in Downsview Park lands and to get customers to the Downsview Park Station entrance.
Since then, we’ve been in conversation with CLC to update our Operating Agreement and were initially planning for a fall 2022 launch date. However, given the slow progression of our discussions with CLC and recent issues with resource availability, we do not anticipate to be able to launch this service in 2022 as previously planned.
We will continue to look for opportunities to implement transit service to this neighbourhood and will notify the Councillor and community when there are any further updates.
A: City Clerk’s Office advises that they do not currently have an audio recording or copy of the material that has been requested.
If you have access to a screen reader, you should be able to read the document with it. If you are having difficulties, they can have the PDF reviewed again and remediated if necessary. If you do not have a screen reader, please advise what file format you prefer and they can investigate getting it to you in that format.
Question (continued): I tried using the Google function on my cell phone (which works on many things) and it doesn’t work for this PDF. It only reads the page in view on the screen, if that, and not completely.
Is that enough info to proceed?
Feel free to call me if you prefer, I find it hard to explain in writing.
Just let me know what # to call you at.
A: Staff have gotten back to me with the following request:
Do you have a computer to read the document from? Staff advise that they are not familiar with the Google phone options you are using and wanted to suggest a computer alternative if that is an option.
And if not, would an accessible WORD version be an option for you using your phone?
We have received a WORD version of the information from the Environment and Climate office who were the originators of the PDF. The WORD version has had some accessibility issues fixed and should be a better version for you to use.
As WORD versions can be easily edited, the PDF that is part of the item history is the record of what was before Committee and Council. The Environment and Climate office have confirmed that this WORD version is the same information.
Please let us know if this version is a suitable option for you.
A: Your request was forwarded to the candidate requests email box candidaterequests@toronto.ca for response. We apologize for the delay in getting back to you.
To provide equal access to information for the 2022 municipal election, the City of Toronto has established a protocol for responding to requests for information from candidates and third party advertisers about City services and programs. This email box receives such questions and provides responses to municipal election candidates.
Questions received and responses given will be provided in writing and posted on the City’s Election webpage (https://www.toronto.ca/city-government/elections/candidates-third-party-advertisers/questions-to-the-city/) without revealing the source of the request.
Thank you for reaching out to request a meeting with staff of Toronto Paramedic Services (TPS). Unfortunately, TPS cannot accommodate your request for municipal election candidate X, due to resource and time constraints. Under election rules, if a meeting or a tour is organized for your candidate, the division must commit to organizing a similar meeting or tour for all other candidates, registered third party advertisers or political parties.
I refer you to the City’s policy “Use of City Resources during an Election Period” and specifically Section 3.2 ( copied below)

If you have questions specific to TPS or any other City programs and services, kindly let us know by sending an email to candidaterequests@toronto.ca and we will reach out to staff and get back to you with a response.
