Creation of a Standing Committee on Housing – Amendments to Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 27, Council Procedures
At its meeting in Committee Room 1, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West, Toronto, on June 19, 2018, the Executive Committee will consider Item EX35.1 which contains recommendations which may result in amendments to the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 27, Council Procedures.
It is proposed that the by-law be adopted at the Council meeting to be held on June 26, 27 and 28, 2018 or at a subsequent meeting.
If approved by City Council, the proposed amendments will amend the Standing Committee mandates in Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 27, Council Procedures by:
- Establishing a Housing Committee as a standing committee with the following mandate:”The Housing Committee’s primary focus is the housing and accommodation of Torontonians, with a mandate to monitor and make recommendation on housing and shelter in the City.”
- Deleting the Affordable Housing Committee as a special committee of Council.
- Increasing the membership of the Executive Committee to accommodate the chair of the Housing Committee.
