As of January 1, 2018, prohibited animals are no longer allowed to be used as part of mobile educational programs or “mobile live shows”, such as at special events, birthday parties or visits to schools.

The only exception is for Earth Rangers, who can continue to use their existing skunk, pine martin, armadillo and porcupine for educational purposes until January 1, 2021. There are no other exceptions.

Any animal not on the prohibited animals list is allowed in Toronto. Mobile educational programs can use ferrets, chinchillas, rats, hedgehogs, non-poisonous frogs, parrots, non-poisonous snakes and lizards for their programs
