Starting in July 2022, a new program can assist with tuition costs and help you become an Early Childhood Educator in one year.

Are you interested in a rewarding career as an Early Childhood Educator? The City of Toronto has partnered with other municipalities as well as the federal and provincial governments to fund Early Childhood Education (ECE) programs at participating colleges. Some programs have also been reduced from two-year to one-year programs to help you get a job in the field faster.

What is an Early Childhood Educator (ECE)?

According to the College of Early Childhood Educators, ECEs:

  • Design curriculum for child-centered, play-based learning
  • Support children’s learning and development by responding to their unique needs and interests
  • Build caring relationships with children, families, and communities
  • Create safe, healthy and inclusive early learning environments
