The City is committed to an inclusive workplace culture supporting a public service that is reflective of the diverse population it serves. The City’s Municipal Licensing and Standards (ML&S) division is introducing a Youth Career Education Initiative to educate youth about the types of careers in the division. We recognize that we do not all have access to the same opportunities and the initiative aims to create a path for equity deserving youth to prepare for meaningful jobs.

The goals of the Youth Career Education Initiative are to:

  • empower youth and inspire them to consider occupations in Municipal Licensing and Standards (ML&S) division by educating them about the unique opportunities in the division and
  • build a more diverse workplace that reflects the communities we serve, especially in occupations where equity deserving people are underrepresented.

This initiative aligns with the City’s commitment to confronting anti-Black racism while also providing a pathway to build a more diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. It also supports the City’s broader goal of creating meaningful opportunities for youth across Toronto.

By partnering with various organizations and educational institutions, this initiative aims to provide youth with the resources, knowledge, and opportunities they need to pursue meaningful careers within the City.

Municipal Licensing & Standards (ML&S) enforces over 30 bylaws in Toronto, issues business licences and permits, and provides animal services. Learn more about the different business units within the division.
