The City of Toronto will activate Emergency Cooling Centres when a Heat Alert is issued by Environment & Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for Toronto region.
Emergency Cooling Centres provide air-conditioned resting spaces to the public. Centres open at 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on the day an alert is issued, with the exception of Metro Hall, which will be open 24 hours and will remain open until noon on the day an alert is terminated.
All services will be delivered following ongoing COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of those using the centres. This includes encouraging physical distancing, the mandatory use of masks, and hand washing.
Locate a cool space near you by entering an address or the nearest intersection. You can also find a location by browsing the interactive map. Filter the results by selecting “Filter Results” and choosing types of locations, amenities and operational hours.
Please note, the map identifies all available locations but they may not all meet your immediate needs based on hours and access. The Location Results List automatically updates as you scroll around the map.
Reservations are recommended for using City pools. More information can be found at: https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/recreation/swimming
