Ring in the New Year with a free, festive countdown to 2026 along Toronto’s stunning waterfront.

The celebration kicks off on December 31 at 10 p.m. Enjoy pop-up performances, lively entertainment and a spectacular 10-minute midnight fireworks display lighting up the city skyline and visible from anywhere with a view of Toronto’s inner harbour or can be watched live on YouTube.

There are no fireworks at City Hall or Nathan Phillips Square.

Walk or cycle to the waterfront using York Street, Jarvis Street, Spadina Avenue and Bay Street to access any of the seven waterfront viewing areas for spectacular views of the fireworks display.

TTC

The TTC is offering free service on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Plan your trip. Tap in as usual. No fare will be charged. Train service ends at 3 a.m. The Blue Night Network operates after 3 a.m.

After Midnight: Union Station & Line 1

There is no streetcar service towards Union Station from Spadina Avenue after 11:50 p.m.

When approaching Union Station on foot, customers will be directed to line up on Bay Street, south of Front Street. Accessible entry will be maintained on Bay Street and through the Bay Promenade inside the station.

Last trains from Union Station:

  • 2:27 a.m. towards Vaugh Metropolitan Centre Station
  • 2:31 a.m. towards Finch Station

Consider using alternate stations such as King, Queen, St. Andrew and Osgoode stations.

After Midnight: Getting to Line 2

Catch an express bus from the waterfront to Line 2, operating from midnight to 2 a.m.:

  • To Sherbourne Station from the intersection of Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East
  • To Bathurst Station from the intersection of Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay West

Streetcar service from the waterfront:

  • To Spadina Station use the 510 Spadina westbound streetcar
  • To Bathurst Station use the 511 Bathurst streetcar

GO Transit & UP Express

GO Transit and UP Express are offering free travel with additional GO trains on New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Plan your GO trip. Tap on and off as usual. No fare will be charged.

Parking

Find a Green P parking lot to use on New Year’s Eve.

Road Closures

If you need to drive, please be mindful of the following road closures from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.:

  • Eastbound traffic on Queens Quay West
  • Bay Street Southbound from Front Street to Queens Quay West
  • York Street Northbound from Queens Quay West to Front Street
