Only commercial and emergency vehicles are allowed on the ferry with the exception of Toronto Island residents and marina members with approval from the traffic office.

Ticket Information

Vehicle tickets can only be purchased at Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, Booth 1.

Ticket fees include the price for the driver only and include the return trip. Each additional passenger will be charged for a round-trip ticket.

Vehicle tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Loading and Unloading Process

Vehicles board the Ongiara ferry through the laneway on the east side of The Westin Harbour Castle.

For safety and vessel stability, loading may not occur in the order you arrive and you may not exit the vessel in the sequence in which you were loaded.

Ferry staff will provide you with directions during the boarding and unloading process.

During summer, vehicle passengers will be picked up or dropped off at Hanlan’s Point and during winter, vehicle passengers will be picked up or dropped off at Ward’s Island.

On the Ferry

While on board the ferry:

  • Follow the direction of the crew
  • Place your vehicle in park, with your emergency brake on
  • Turn your vehicle off
  • Stay with your vehicle for the duration of the trip unless directed by the ferry crew

Driving on Toronto Island Park

While driving on Toronto Island Park, drivers must obey all laws and regulations under the Highway Traffic Act and Parks Bylaw 608 and 950.

  • Remain on asphalt roads. Vehicles are not allowed onto the boardwalk on the south side of the Island between Centre and Ward’s Island
  • Obey the posted speed limits
    • 30 km/h
    • 15 km/h in school zones
  • Vehicles are not allowed to park overnight
  • Vehicles must not exceed the weight limit on the following bridges:
    • Manitou bridge: 18 tonnes gross (18,000 kilograms)
    • Algonquin bridge: 12 tonnes gross (12,000 kilograms)
    • Olympic bridge: 10 tonnes gross (10,000 kilograms)
