The Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 395 provides regulations to ensure clothing drop boxes remain safe and maintained.
Violations include some of the following:
- Graffiti or unauthorized poster on the clothing drop box
- Clothing drop boxes placed on City's right-of-way (streets, boulevards, sidewalks)
- Overflowing clothing drop box
- The clothing drop box is deteriorate or damaged
- A valid permit not displayed clearly on the clothing drop box
- No schedule outlining when the contents will be picked up
- Clothing drop box is not place in an area with lighting at all times
- The clothing box does not display the name of the operator in a conspicuous place on the clothing drop box

How to report a clothing box violation
If you notice a clothing drop box on private or City property that is not in compliance with the regulations, you can submit a service request online at www.toronto.ca/311 (found under Bylaw Violations and Property Issues - Property Standards and Maintenance Violations), or call, 311.
