Multi-residential FEL Customers - damaged/repairs to FEL bin

If damage to the FEL/bulk bin has occurred and believed to be caused by a City contractor, please contact 311 to submit a Service Request for a damage claim. The City contractor is not responsible for repairing or replacing bins as a result of wear and tear.

Multi-Residential FEL Customers - purchasing FEL bins

The City does not sell steel (FEL-front-end loaded) garbage, recycling or organic containers (previously called "bulk" bins or "bulk" containers). For a list of steel container suppliers, please refer to your local business directory or you can also search online.
Please contact 311 to submit a service request if you are a property manager or superintendent from a multi-residential building and require stickers, stencilling or RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Data) tagging of new or existing Front-End Loaded (FEL) bins.

Multi-residential = more than 8 units:

  • The City is only responsible for the repair or replacement of City-issued garbage and recycling bins (95 gal. carts) and organic bins (35 gal. carts)
  • A fee may be charged due to lost or stolen bins
  • Property Managers are responsible for all other containers (eg. FEL bins)

Note: A multi-residential building is defined as having more than 8 legal dwelling units. The units can be condos or rentals. These customers may have steel metal bins for garbage if they are collected front end. Alternatively, they may have their waste collected via curbside collection using black 95 gallon garbage bins with a serial # that begins with 95B.

If you do not currently receive City collection services, further information is available on the City of Toronto website.
