Contact 311 to submit a service request for an oversized item that was not picked up. Please note that you must report oversized items not picked up within 1 business day of the scheduled collection day.

If bedbugs are visible on any furniture items, the items must be wrapped in plastic and sealed with tape in order to be collected.

If you receive curbside collection:

  • place oversized items out beside your garbage bin for collection at your collection point on your garbage collection day
  • all oversized items must be placed out on the correct day and out by 7 am at the designated set out point.
  • electronic waste (e-waste) (items considered oversized items)
    • place items inside an open cardboard box on garbage days
    • place larger electronic items beside your garbage bin for collection.
(Note: a different style of truck from your regular garbage truck will pick up all electronics for either recycling or safe disposal. Always keep weather conditions in mind when placing items out for collection. In winter storms, we ask that you hold onto items until it's clear of snow and ice.)

Oversized items are defined as larger than 1.2 metres in any one dimension or weigh more than 20 kgs, such as, sofas, chairs, wooden furniture, beds, mattresses, appliances..

Annual Oversized & Metal Items Fee: will appear on the Utility Bill regardless of whether an oversized or metal item is placed out for collection or not. The amount will be spread over the year, billed at pro-rated amounts based on the length of a given billing period. Please refer to the City of Toronto website for information of fees and programs.
