Description of Service / Summary

Wading pools are shallow, dish-shaped concrete pools located in parks across the city. They are designed for young children and operate during the summer season. All wading pools follow City of Toronto safety, supervision, and water quality standards.

For safety, caregivers are reminded to always maintain direct supervision of children in the wading pool.

Please keep dogs, bicycles, and strollers outside the pool area to support a safe play environment.

Supervision Requirements

All City of Toronto pools follow the standard adult-to-child supervision ratios

  • Children 5 years and under: 2 children per adult (2:1)
  • Children 6 to 9 years: 4 children per adult (4:1)

City staff provide on-site supervision, water testing, and safety oversight. Pools may close temporarily due to weather, maintenance needs, or water quality requirements.

Water Quality and Maintenance

  • Wading pools are drained, cleaned, and refilled daily during the operating season.
  • Staff conduct routine water quality checks to ensure the pool meets provincial public health standards.
  • Pools may close when water quality is not within safe operating levels.
