Garbage Tag Program - purchase of garbage tags

Notices:

• Yellow Garbage Tags may be purchased at Canadian Tire stores across the City of Toronto, or online and do not have an expiration date.
• There are no additional charges or taxes on the yellow garbage tag fee.
• City of Toronto Yellow Garbage Tags may be used for curbside pick-up only at residential and non-residential locations.
• To ensure the tag sticks to the bag and is visible to the collection crews, we recommend the tag be wrapped around the knot or gathered at the top of the bag and stuck to itself.

The business must be registered with the Commercial Yellow Tag Program in order to use the Yellow Tags for City garbage collection. As a registered business, you can purchase the yellow tags from any Canadian Tire store in the City of Toronto, or online. For Solid Waste rates and fees, visit the City of Toronto website.

The cost of the tags covers the cost of collection and disposal of garbage. Customers using carts instead of bags for garbage pre-pay a collection fee. The City collects recyclable materials and organics from businesses at no extra cost unless organics' collection is of a higher frequency than the base organics collection.
