An 'Order to Comply' is a formal notice to a property owner regarding a violation of the Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 629 - Property Standards.
What an Order to Comply includes:
All information that is required is found on the Order including the following
- Violation details - a description of the specific violation of the Property Standards Code.
- Required actions - a clear list of the repairs or actions needed to correct the violation.
- Compliance deadline - a specific, reasonable timeframe for the owner to complete the work. If the repair or clearance is not carried out within that time, the City may carry out the repair or clearance at the owner's expense.
- Appeal period - a specific period during which the property owner can appeal the order to a Property Standards Committee.
