Smoke-Free Ontario Act, 2017 (SFOA, 2017)

The Act bans smoking (tobacco or cannabis) and vaping in:

  • Enclosed workplaces
  • Enclosed public places
  • Other designated areas

It also regulates how tobacco and vapour products are sold and promoted at retail.

There are several penalties for violating the SFOA, 2017. Review the SFOA, 2017  to understand your responsibilities and the fines that may result from failing to comply.

Toronto Public Health conducts inspections and responds to complaints to enforce the SFOA, 2017 within the City of Toronto.
