Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate and enjoy Toronto’s beautiful ravine network and unique green spaces during Ravine Days from October 1 to 10.

Ravine Days is an opportunity to highlight events taking place throughout the city’s ravine network, including events at the High Park Nature Centre, Black Creek Community Farm, Evergreen Brick Works, Clark Centre for the Arts and more. Residents can learn about, experience and contribute to the city’s greatest natural asset, Toronto’s ravines, during 10 days of in-person outdoor events and self-directed activities at ravine sites across the city.

Events will include:

  • Roots, an outdoor photo installation at Evergreen Brick Works by Toronto-based artist Sandra Brewster that explores the long history of Black presence in the urban wilderness.
  • Family-friendly activities at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre including creating art with found objects from nature such as seeds, flowers, leaves and pebbles.
  • Adventures of Salmon, a free event with Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) within the Highland Creek watershed, which examines salmon migration, salmon species and life cycle, TRCA initiatives and more.
  • Pond Dip at Humber Arboretum showcasing the mysteries of pond life from aquatic insects to tadpoles and crayfish.
  • Guided walks and litter clean-ups in Rouge National Urban Park, home to 1,700 species of plants and animals.

Ravines define Toronto’s landscape, are part of the city’s green infrastructure and are critical for biodiversity. More than 17 per cent of Toronto’s total area is ravine land and 87 per cent of Toronto’s Environmentally Significant Areas are found in ravines. More information about Ravine Days is available on the City’s Ravines & Natural Parklands webpage.
