Today, the City of Toronto officially unveiled new and upgraded sports courts at Malvern Park, an $800,000 investment that expands recreation opportunities, strengthens community connections and enhances local infrastructure in Scarborough.

The revitalization includes three upgraded tennis courts, four new dedicated pickleball courts, two refreshed netball courts and a new volleyball court expected to be completed by mid-August. The project addresses critical state-of-good-repair needs and was prioritized through the City’s budget process based on the condition of the existing facilities along with the opportunity to improve access to recreation in a priority neighbourhood.

The project was supported through a contribution from Tennis Canada’s National Bank Play Your Court Program, which provided a $100,000 grant to help renew the three tennis courts with upgraded playing surfaces and new court colour coatings. Together, these improvements will provide residents with modern, high-quality recreational amenities that support active living.

The outdoor sports courts at Malvern Park are open daily and are free to the public for drop-in use on a first-come, first-served basis. More information can be found on the City’s webpage.
