City of Toronto to launch Indigenous People in Toronto: An Introduction for Newcomers

Tomorrow, the City of Toronto, in partnership with OCASI – Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants and Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services will launch Indigenous People in Toronto: A Guide for Newcomers, a resource that introduces newcomers to Indigenous communities.

Date: Thursday, July 27

Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Location: David Pecaut Square, 215 King St. W.

The event includes:

• Remarks from Indigenous Elders, City staff and leaders from the newcomer and refugee serving sectors
• Cultural performances from Lena Recollet, Borelson and Indigenous youth singers Wynona Maracle and Ariyha Syvret
• A marketplace featuring Indigenous and newcomer food and craft vendors

All are welcome to attend this free event.

This guide was created in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action #93 – Newcomers to Canada.
