Tomorrow, Toronto Public Health, City of Toronto officials and community partners will gather to raise awareness for World TB Day, which is March 24. World TB Day highlights local and global efforts to reduce the health impact and stigma associated with tuberculosis.

Location: Nathan Phillips Square, 100 Queen St. W., across from the Toronto sign, under the pedestrian bridge
 
Tuberculosis (TB), a disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria, is among the top 10 causes of death and the leading cause of infectious disease deaths worldwide, even though it is treatable, curable and preventable. In Toronto, approximately 300 people become sick with TB every year.

Photo and interview opportunities will be available with Board of Health Chair Joe Cressy (Councillor for Ward 10 Spadina-Fort York) and Associate Medical Officer of Health Elizabeth Rea, as well as other health professionals and former TB patients.
