Councillor Vincent Crisanti (Etobicoke North) will be joined by Marlene Ibsen, Chief Executive Officer and President of Travelers Foundation and Community Relations Vice President of Travelers; Derrick Dixon, Project Manager at KABOOM!; and Hamdi Ali, Somali Women’s and Children’s Support Network and the Somali Canadian Association of Etobicoke will join volunteers from Travelers Canada and the local Somali community to celebrate the completion of a revitalized playground at Dixon Park.

Date: Friday, October 20
Time: Media are invited to capture the building process by volunteers from 12 to 2 p.m.
Ribbon cutting ceremony and photo opportunity will take place from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
Location: Dixon Park, 350 Dixon Rd.

The new, accessible playground was built over 72 hours in part by local community volunteers recruited by the Somali Women’s and Children’s Support Network and the Somali Canadian Association. The play space is funded by Travelers Canada in partnership with the City of Toronto, all facilitated by KABOOM!, a non-profit organization whose aim is to provide play equity for all children.
