Warming Centres:

  • Tonight at 7 p.m., the City will open three Warming Centres to give those who are vulnerable and may be experiencing homelessness a safe indoor and warm place to rest and access snacks, washroom facilities and referrals to emergency shelter. All Warming Centre spaces are available by walk in. A referral from Central Intake is not required.
  • The three Warming Centres are located at:
    • Scarborough Civic Centre, 150 Borough Dr.
    • Metro Hall, 55 John St.
    • Mitchell Field Community Centre, 89 Church Ave.

 Anticipated weather conditions:

  • Potential snow accumulation of 11 to 26 cm this afternoon and evening.
  • Up to 1 cm of snow has accumulated so far today.

Snow clearing operations:

  • Crews continue to patrol 24 hours a day and monitor road conditions.
  • Salting is underway on all roadways.
  • Sidewalks, separated bike lanes and multi-use trails are being monitored or cleared across the city.
  • Bus stops and crosswalks are being salted in Scarborough and East York.
  • Plowing will be activated when the snow reaches:
    • 5 cm – expressways
    • 5 cm – major roads, transit routes and streets with hills
    • 8 cm – residential streets

  • For everyone’s safety, media cannot be in any Transportation Services yards without permission from the City and must be accompanied by a City of Toronto employee. Live hits can be done outside the yard in the right-of-way.
