The City of Toronto is committed to supporting vulnerable residents by assisting low-income seniors and low-income people living with disabilities through its Property Tax & Utility Relief programs. These programs help reduce financial pressure and support eligible property owners in maintaining their homes.
The City offers several programs to alleviate financial challenges and ensure eligible property owners can comfortably maintain their residences, including the Property Tax Increase Cancellation Program, Property Tax Increase Deferral Program, Water Rebate Program and Solid Waste Rebate Program. Eligibility requirements vary by program and are based on factors including age, income and disability status. The programs are designed to help eligible property owners manage rising housing-related costs and remain in their homes.
Eligible property owners are encouraged to apply online, where household income can be securely verified through the Canada Revenue Agency. This streamlined process eliminates the need to collect and submit income-related documents. Property owners who prefer not to apply online may submit a paper application form by mail.
The deadline to apply for 2026 Property Tax & Utility Relief programs is Monday, November 2.
