Kids under 18 years of age are invited to vote for Toronto’s 2027 Tree of the Year and learn about the voting process during Kids Vote Weekend on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all 50 advance voting places across the city.   

The five candidates for Toronto’s 2027 Tree of the Year are Basswood, Paper Birch, Red Oak, Sugar Maple and White Pine.  

The winning Tree of the Year will be announced after the October 26 municipal election and featured in special plantings, tree sapling giveaways and other activities in 2027. 

Kids Vote Weekend encourages children and youth under the age of 18 to learn about local democracy, elections and the voting process. Visit the Kids Vote Weekend webpage at www.toronto.ca/KidsVote to learn more and for activities, tree candidate profiles and other resources.

Notes for filming: The City’s Media Attendance at a Voting Place policy will be in effect during Kids Vote Weekend. Media are required to RSVP to media@toronto.ca by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9.
