The City of Toronto is reminding candidates, property owners and residents in Ward 25, Scarborough-Rouge Park that they are responsible for removing all election signs on private property within 72 hours of the election – by Thursday, October 2.
Election signs can be taken to a designated City Drop-Off Depot for recycling to reduce the amount of waste going to the landfill and should not be placed in the Blue Bin (recycling). Used and surplus signs will be accepted for proper disposal at Bermondsey Transfer Station Drop-Off Depot and Scarborough Transfer Station until Friday, October 24. The City may remove election signs that conflict with the Election and Temporary Signs Bylaw. Signs that remain unclaimed 72 hours after voting day may be recycled or otherwise disposed of by the City without notice or compensation.
In addition to wooden and metal stakes, the City accepts three types of election signs for recycling at the Bermondsey Transfer Station Drop-Off Depot, 188 Bermondsey Rd.:

There is no fee for dropping off separated clean corrugated plastic, paper fibre and plastic film election signs, associated supports and stakes for recycling. Unseparated mixed waste that includes election signs will be charged the regular fee for disposal of $183.00 per metric tonne of material with a minimum $18 flat fee for the first 100 kg.
