News Release
February 4, 2022

Team Toronto has now administered third doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 60 per cent of eligible Torontonians. In total, nearly 1.4 million residents have now received a third “booster” dose, helping to better protect themselves, their families and communities against COVID-19.

COVID-19 vaccines have been scientifically proven to lower the risk of illness, hospitalization and death. Anyone age 18 or older who received a second dose approximately three months ago is now eligible for a third dose. Third doses of vaccine provide an extra layer of protection against COVID-19, including the highly-transmissible Omicron variant.

Earlier this week, the City of Toronto released thousands of new appointments for the five City-run immunization clinics. The appointments are available to residents needing a first, second or third dose of vaccine, including children age five to 11 years old needing a first or second paediatric COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments can be booked online or by calling 1-833-943-3900 (TTY 1-866-797-0007).

All City-run clinics are now also accepting walk-ins from any eligible group. City-run clinics are open Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in five community hubs across Toronto:

  • Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 225 Front. W., North Building, Lower Level, Constitution Hall, Room 107
  • Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall, located at the north end of the mall
  • Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr., located on the east side of the centre on the upper level, near Entrance 2
  • Mitchell Field Community Centre, 89 Church Ave., located on the east side of the building in the gym
  • Woodbine Mall, 500 Rexdale Blvd, located inside the Hudson’s Bay store

City-run clinics offer both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Supply may vary between clinics and individuals attending for vaccination cannot be guaranteed a choice between brands of vaccine. Both Pfizer and Moderna brands are mRNA vaccines and have been scientifically proven to protect against serious consequences linked to COVID-19.

In addition to City-run clinics, vaccines are also available at hospital partner clinics, more than 525 local pharmacies, and primary care offices across the city. More information on vaccines, bookings and other matters relating to COVID-19 is available at Toronto.ca/COVID19.

“As soon as third dose eligibility was expanded, Team Toronto worked tirelessly to rapidly scale-up vaccination capacity and accelerate third doses. Now, we have reached another milestone with 60 per cent of eligible residents with their third dose. This is excellent progress, but there’s still much more to do. Until every resident, in every corner of our city, can get vaccinated and be protected, Team Toronto won’t slow down.”
– Councillor Joe Cressy (Spadina-Fort York), Chair of the Toronto Board of Health
