Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto Fire Chief Matthew Pegg will welcome the newest group of Fire Inspectors to the City of Toronto at a graduation ceremony tomorrow.

Date: Friday, April 5
Time: 2 to 4 p.m.
Location: Toronto Fire and Paramedic Services Training Centre, 895 Eastern Ave.

The graduation ceremony recognizes the successful completion of a 13-week training program and will welcome recruits to the Toronto Fire Services (TFS) Community Risk Reduction Division.

Twenty-five Fire Inspector recruits will graduate with National Fire Protection Association professional qualifications as Fire Inspectors and Fire and Life Safety Educators.

TFS Fire Inspectors conduct fire safety inspections, address violations and enforce the Ontario Fire Code (OFC) in accordance with the Fire Protection and Prevention Act and accompanying regulations and Ontario Fire Marshal directives. The enforcement of the OFC is the backbone of effective fire prevention and plays a critical role in reducing loss of life and property by fire in Toronto.
