Beginning today, eligible voters in Toronto’s 2026 municipal election can check their information on the voters’ list and request to vote by mail.
Voters can confirm, add or update their information on the voters’ list, by visiting the Toronto Elections webpage, emailing VoterRegistration@toronto.ca or calling 311.
For a voter’s name to appear on the printed voters’ list used in the voting place on election day, updates to the list must be made by 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 11.
Being on the voters’ list before going to vote in person makes the voting process faster.
After this date, eligible voters with acceptable identification can add their name to the voters’ list when they go to vote during:
Voter Information Card
A Voter Information Card (VIC) will be mailed to everyone on the voters’ list as of midnight on Sunday, September 20.
Voters can also download or print a digital copy of their VIC on the Toronto Elections webpage.
A VIC provides information on when and where to vote in person during advance voting or on election day and makes the voting process faster. A VIC is not required to vote, and it cannot be used as identification at the voting place.
All voters are required to show identification with their name and qualifying Toronto address. A complete list of acceptable identification is available on the Toronto Elections webpage.
Mail-in Voting
Starting today, eligible voters can request to vote by mail by visiting the Toronto Elections webpage, emailing VotebyMail@toronto.ca or calling 311.
The deadline to request to vote by mail is Thursday, September 24 at 4:30 p.m.
Mail-in Voting packages will be sent to approved requesters starting Monday, September 14.
When a request to vote by mail is approved, the voter receives a confirmation code that can be used to track the status of their package.
Voters have two options to return their marked ballot and supporting documents to Toronto Elections at no cost. Completed Mail-in Voting packages can be mailed through Canada Post using the prepaid envelope or, starting Thursday, October 1, placed in a secure Toronto Elections drop box.
Toronto Elections drop boxes will be available in 25 locations across the city, one in each ward, between Thursday, October 1 and Thursday, October 14. Drop box locations and hours are available on the Toronto Elections webpage.
Completed Mail-in Voting packages must be received by Toronto Elections by October 14 at noon.
Proxy applications
Eligible voters who are unable to vote in person or by mail may appoint someone by proxy to vote on their behalf. A voter may only appoint one person to vote on their behalf. This person must be eligible to vote in Toronto’s 2026 municipal election.
To request a Voting Proxy Appointment Form, eligible voters can email Toronto Elections at VoterRegistration@toronto.ca or call 311.
A Voting Proxy Appointment Form must be completed and signed by the voter and their proxy before being certified. Voting Proxy Appointment Forms must be certified by the City Clerk in person at the Toronto Elections office located at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W. or North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge St.
A Voting Proxy Appointment Form must be certified by Monday, October 26 at 4:30 p.m.
