Taxicab Owner

There are two ways to become a taxicab owner:

Sale

To own a taxi, a licence is required. You can purchase an existing Taxicab Owner or Toronto Taxicab Owner licence from another owner.

Estate

You can transfer an existing Taxicab Owner licence or Toronto Taxicab Owner licence into the name of an Estate.

Please note: new licences are issued from our waiting list, which has been on hold since 2016.

Taxicab owners who also wish to drive a taxicab, must be licensed as a Vehicle-for-Hire driver.
