Marriage licences are issued by appointment only.

Before you book your Marriage Licence Appointment, please ensure you have:

Please have your Marriage Licence “Application Number” ready. The “Application Number” is provided to you after completing the online Marriage Licence Application form.

At least one of the applicants must attend the appointment in-person.

Appointments are offered at the following locations:

    • Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West
    • North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge Street

Please note that appointments are required.  Walk-in clients will not be accepted. Please book only one appointment per couple. Additional bookings will be cancelled.

If you have previously booked an appointment for a marriage licence, you can request to cancel or reschedule previously booked appointments.

At least one of the applicants must attend the appointment in-person.

At the appointment, you will pay the marriage licence fee of $160.  Please see Fees for more information.

What to bring to your appointment

The applicant will need bring the following to the appointment:

  • Completed, printed and signed marriage licence application form.
    • Ensure both applicants have signed the application.
    • Only application forms with original signatures in ink will be accepted.
    • Applications signed with digital signatures will not be accepted.
    • If you cannot print the marriage licence application yourself, the application can be printed at the appointment, however both applicants must attend the appointment to sign the application.
  • Two (2) pieces of government issued identification for EACH applicant totalling four (4) pieces of identification.
  • If required, documentation proving divorce.

What to expect at your appointment

  • Upon arrival, please check in at the kiosk or on your mobile device.
  • It will take approximately 15 minutes to process your application and issue the licence.
  • Arrive at your scheduled appointment time. If you are late or come without the required documentation, your appointment may have to be rescheduled. Arriving early may increase your wait time.

Getting there

Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. West, 1st Floor

  • Parking: Paid parking is available under Toronto City Hall, accessible from Queen St. West, Bay St South and Armoury/Chestnut Streets.
  • Transit Options:
    • Nearby subway stops: Queen Station, Dundas Station and Osgoode Station.
    • Nearby streetcar stops: 501 Queen St. streetcar stops at Bay Street or University Avenue/Osgoode Station.
  • You will be required to go through the visitor screening and walk through a metal detector.

North York Civic Centre, 5100 Yonge Street

  • Enter from either the north or south entrances of the building.
  • Parking: Paid parking is available on several streets in the area and under North York Civic Centre.
  • Transit Option:
    • Nearby subway stop is North York Centre.
