Mirvish Village BIAMirvish Village BIA - Unique shopping, great dining and great entertainment

Mirvish Village is located in midtown Toronto in an eclectic culturally diverse, safe and vibrant neighbourhood devoted to the Arts, food and entertainment, nestled between the Annex BIA to the east and the Korea Town BIA to the west.

The Mirvish Village BIA was approved in 2005 by Toronto City Council named for the Mirvish family in recognition of Toronto's retail show biz entrepreneur Honest Ed Mirvish who started his business Honest Ed's in 1941 in the area.

Honest Ed's world famous bargain shopping centre is the largest business in the area that offers a one of a kind entertaining, interesting and affordable shopping experience with 160,000 square feet of bargains, corny slogans and it's neon flashing sign with 23,000 moving light bulbs makes one understand why the landmark retail emporium's slogan for over half a century has been "THERE'S NO PLACE...LIKE THIS PLACE...ANYPLACE!!!!"

Mirvish Village BIA also features outstanding eateries to satisfy many different palates from fast food outlets to fine dining. Italian (Rocco's), international cuisine (Red Guitar), Cajun (Southern Accent), Indian (Red Rose), mixed fare (Butler's Pantry), chicken and burgers (The Original George's Deli & BBQ), Roti (Carribean), hamburgers and Buffalo fries (Victory Café), Pizza Pizza, Swiss Chalet, specialty coffees and desserts (Lettieri Espresso Bar & Café) are but a few of the well established restaurants and cafes.

Among the many spectacular specialty shops and best kept secrets in the area are Trove and Shoon for boutique, jewellery, purses and shoes, Vintage Video movie collectibles, Wine Not a wine making experience, Suspect Video and Culture choice thrillers, David Mirvish Books specializing in art books, Super Sprouts Toronto's first organic sprout farms, Ballenford Books on Architecture, The Listening Centre for hearing impaired, Dragonov Jewellery Studio, Plantation Antiques, Yesterday's Heros Comic Books etc...

The Village is home to the historic Bathurst Street Theatre which showcases many theatrical presentations and also houses the famous George Randolf Dance Academy (on any given day depending on the weather you can see many young dancers outside going through their stretching exercises). Trainer's Fitness attracts fitness buffs not only from the area but also from other Toronto areas.

Everyone is invited to Mirvish Village in July for the Public Ed Mirvish Birthday Celebration. It's an annual event that pays tribute to the legendary humanitarian for who the Village is named. The celebration is held at Honest Ed's and other Mirvish Village BIA merchants.
