A partnership of the Village of Islington BIA, the Heritage Etobicoke Foundation and Toronto Economic Development, Islington's murals celebrate the community's shared history, its defining moments and rhythm of life, how they looked and what they did for fun through the years. The project began as a revitalization initiative designed to link Islington's contemporary residents with the community's roots.
The village's first mural was painted in 2004. Twenty-two must-see murals have been produced to date, earning the Village a reputation for having the most beautiful fine art murals in Toronto. These exceptional quality, larger-than-life works have transformed Dundas St West, turning the area from Kipling to Islington into an outdoor gallery.
Islington BIA has recently created an ART WALK, a 5-block area with over 15,000 sq. ft. of exquisite murals nestled among sidewalk cafés, coffee houses, shops, restaurants and services. Guided Tours are available from June - October. Or do your own thing by downloading the walking tour guide.
