The Village of Islington BIA was created in 1986 and is located on Dundas Street between Islington and Kipling. The 200 shops, restaurants and services have joined forces to create a beautiful and prosperous community. Old Islington is a special, tree-lined place with colourful plantings, wide brick-bordered sidewalks and beautiful murals. In September of 2003, the BIA was extended west to Kipling. Today, the area is home to myriad, interesting and ethnically diverse restaurants, shops and services.
In our little village you can get a manicure, have a haircut, do lunch, buy a gift, visit a spa, and see a doctor, dentist or chiropractor. You can do your banking, consult a nutritionist, have a massage, try Tai Chi, or see a financial consultant, an accountant or a lawyer. You can redecorate your home, insure it, or see an agent to help you find a new one. You can fill a prescription, have your clothes cleaned, buy flowers, rent a movie, pray for peace, exercise your options or dine al fresco. You can improve your wardrobe, hire an architect or landscape designer, learn to meditate, find a bargain, surf the web or simply sit back, coffee or wine in hand, and watch the ebb and flow of humanity.
At the end of the day, it is the people who make a community. Residents and business owners alike give the neighbourhood its character, flavour and feeling. In Islington you can find a friend, create connections and, most importantly, feel at home.
