Get a new read on Toronto!

Established by Toronto City Council in 1974, the Toronto Book Awards honour authors of books of literary or artistic merit that are evocative of Toronto. The deadline for submissions for the 2012 Toronto Book Awards is March 30. The shortlisted books for this year's award will be announced in early-June, and the winner will be announced in October, 2012.

2011 Toronto Book Awards winner

Rabindranath Maharaj is the recipient of the 2011 Toronto Book Award for his novel The Amazing Absorbing Boy. The announcement was made at an awards gala held on October 13 at the Toronto Reference Library.


Shortlist for 2011 Toronto Book Awards

The five finalists for the 2011 Toronto Book Awards were announced on September 6:
James FitzGerald for his memoir What Disturbs Our Blood
James King for his novel Étienne's Alphabet
Rabindranath Maharaj for his novel The Amazing Absorbing Boy
Nicholas Ruddock for his novel The Parabolist
Alissa York for her novel Fauna
